An Interview with Rosanne Hertogh – Founder, WANDERWELL
Tell us about your business – your mission and what made you start this e-commerce website?
In 2015, I started WANDERWELL out of my passion for traveling and style. Despite having a background in visual merchandising, interior design/styling and fashion styling, I have always had a love for fashion and a dream to start my own fashion brand. WANDERWELL is a reflection of my personal style and ideal lifestyle – being wherever you’re happy, doing whatever makes you happy and sharing this with whoever makes you happy.
Which channels are bringing most traffic to your store? Which channels do you wish to use to reach more customers this year?
It used to be Facebook that brought most of the traffic to the online store, but recently Instagram has started bringing most traffic to the website. Instagram is such a great platform to use for not just promoting the brand, but also to connect with (potential) customers and people interested in WANDERWELL’s style. We will definitely be using Instagram more frequently this year.
What made you choose Shopify for WANDERWELL? How is it helping you accomplish your business goals?
We’ve recently switched and moved our store from another e-commerce platform to Shopify due to better theme designs, features and better functionality. So far, we’re not regretting the switch. The overall customer experience has improved a lot, which was our main goal.

What is it that WANDERWELL (as a business) wants to accomplish in 2017?
The plan is to launch our clothing collection this spring and create and add new styles to it on a regular basis. We’d love to grow into a slightly bigger business this year and build a larger customer base and community.
What tools, apps, key metrics do you track and use to understand your business’ health? What apps do you use to help you with your backend?
We’re mainly using Google Analytics for tracking the traffic to our website. Other tools and apps we use are Chatra Live Chat, Swym Wishlist Plus, Recently Viewed Products, Covet.Pics for our Instashop, Notify Me to be notified when a product is out of stock, Order Printer, Product Reviews and MailChimp.
We love sharing more information about e-commerce best practices that we come across, with our customers. Would you have any cool trick or best practice that you recommend?
Do your research and read if you’re trying to develop, achieve or improve something. Use the search engines, (Shopify) forums, YouTube, books or talk to people that might be able to help you out. Things that were very helpful to me were (and still are) reading the Shopify forums, listening to the Shopify Masters’ podcasts, reading the Shopify success stories, reading blogs (ex. Later.com blog) and reading books about marketing, SEO and e-commerce.
