An Interview with Himanshu Lunagariya – Founder, Covervilla
Tell us about your business – your mission and what made you start this e-commerce website?
I personally could not afford the price of mobile covers that my competitors are selling, this is the main reason I started Covervilla co-founding it with Darshan Mevada. We cut out the middlemen, rentals and markups and have taken the revolutionary step of creating the products in-house, and selling straight to customers via our Shopify store. This makes the price way more affordable for our “Gen Next” customers. Our mission is to sell 100, 000 mobile covers in 2017 across India, and we are getting there step-by-step.
Which channels are bringing most traffic to your store? Which channels do you wish to use to reach more customers this year?
Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn are the channels where we get maximum customers from. However, since our product design is driven by creativity – we also like to focus on Instagram, because most of our customers who purchase are active on Instagram.
What made you choose Shopify for Covervilla? How is it helping you accomplish your business goals?
I read many blogs about platforms and then one of my mentors suggested we take a look at Shopify, that’s how it started. We’ve been with Shopify for 2 and half months and I am very pleased with my decision. Their pricing plans is really well balanced, which is a savior for entrepreneurs who do not have a huge investment budget (The Basic Shopify package costs $29/mo).

We love sharing more information about e-commerce best practices that we come across, with our customers. Would you have any cool trick or best practice that you recommend?
Here are some tricks that could help fellow entrepreneurs:
1 – If you are using online marketing, then I suggest to invest in Instagram. It brings lots of traffic at lower costs and generates loyal customers
2 – Focus on productivity and customer satisfaction rather than marketing. Prioritize those two first.
3 – Try a rewards system. For example: we are giving a free chocolate (Dairy milk) and a thank you note along with coupon code to our customers in the shopping box. This increases the percentage of your returning customers.
Majority of of e-commerce purchases result from a multi-screen shopping experience via multiple devices and channels. Swym maximizes the value of each customer interaction by enabling seamless multi-session shopping experiences – helping them pick up where they left off.
