Deivee is derived from the latin word ‘DEI” and a Sanskrit word for Goddess ‘DEVI”. This shopify store is the brainchild of fitness and sports evangelists Milind Soman and Darshan M celebrating the capabilities, role and the impact that women have in the society today. We love their focus toward building an athletic leisure clothing line with path-breaking organic materials that promise comfort, style and are suitable for all body types.
An Interview with Darshan M : Co-Founder Deivee
Tell us about your business – your mission and what made you start this e-commerce website?
We are an active lifestyle company focussed on the needs of women. We observed that all existing players in the market (yoga clothing included) were aping western styles and silhouettes. Indian women have different body types, environment and sensibilities and no one seem to care about these aspects that make us Indians unique. We are the first brand to develop clothing styles for different indian body types (viz: pear, apple, rectangle and hour-glass shapes).
What made you choose Shopify for Deivee? How is it helping you accomplish your business goals?
As an entrepreneur you need to pick your battles. I chose to focus on the product and decided to outsource everything else to experts. Shopify is a great platform for those not looking to build their own technology team and delivery platform. Shopify enabled us to get e-commerce ready quickly, while we spend most of our energy in the core area of product development.
What is it that Deivee (as a business) wants to accomplish in 2017?
We have a clear short term goal to become the no. 1 Yoga clothing brand in India in the coming 12 months.
What tools, apps, key metrics do you track and use to understand your business’ health? What apps do you use to help you with your backend?
Well, tools and apps are an ongoing exercise – we have installed and un-installed many apps. We keep experimenting on the various apps.
We love sharing more information about e-commerce best practices that we come across, with our customers. Would you have any cool trick or best practice that you recommend?
Well my advice to other entrepreneurs is very simple, like I mentioned earlier you need to pick your battles. You can’t master everything, so choose one core aspect of our business that you will focus and outsource and delegate everything else. It may be product or brand, or even technology but stick to your core and build everyone and everything else around it.
